Stress-Free Spring Cleaning

There are two kinds of people in the world. Those that love cleaning, and those who would rather do absolutely anything other than spend time cleaning (and they usually marry one another).

All jokes aside, deep cleaning should be a part of every homeowner’s maintenance checklist. When purchasing a home, you’re investing. By taking time to care for it, you’re protecting your investment. If Spring cleaning still gives you the blues, we’ve created a list of ways to make Spring cleaning stress-free.

Have A Great Playlist

Music makes any task or occasion better. Find a station that will inspire you, or create a playlist. Consider what tunes make you feel unstoppable, and add your favorite artists. Find a station You’ll soon be powering through your Spring cleaning with energy to spare.

Recruit A Cleaning Crew

If you have a partner, roommate, or children - tell them to clear their schedule. They help to make the mess, and they get to share the fun of Spring cleaning it!

If you’re cleaning with small children, ensure your space is ventilated well and keep cleaning chemicals out of reach.

Delegate When Necessary

Don’t be afraid to delegate larger tasks to professionals when necessary. You might find set-in carpet stains from previous owners that may require a professional carpet cleaner, or the dryer vent needs to be cleaned by a professional. Find a local, licensed professional to take some of the work off your hands.

Declutter As You Go

Keeping a space clean is easier when there’s less clutter. If you come across things you forgot you owned, are no longer useful, or could otherwise be donated - set them aside in a trash or donation pile. For example, if you have an abundance of bath towels and want to let go of some of the more worn ones, wash them with cleaning vinegar and take them to your local animal shelter for donation. Viola! Your linen closet has more space and instantly feels more manageable and tidy.

Make A List and Prioritize

Lastly, make a list of your deep cleaning projects and prioritize them. The list can be beneficial if you could recruit a cleaning crew; there’s a clear roadmap for what needs to be done and in what order it would be preferable to accomplish. Creating bite-sized tasks for yourself can make things feel more manageable, especially as you start to check things off. If some tasks can’t be completed in one day or one weekend, you can refer back to the list in the future when you have spare time to make sure everything on the list gets accomplished.

Whether or not you look forward to deep cleaning, we hope these tips make your Spring cleaning feel more doable and enjoyable. Feel free to share your favorite Spring cleaning tips with us on Facebook or Instagram!
